HR Manager Retail – Italy and Switzerland

The HR Manager acts as a generalist Business Partner within the European Human Resources team, supporting Retail operations in Italy and Switzerland.  The role is based in either Milan or London, with travel across the Italy and Switzerland required. 

Partnering with the Area Managers and Store Managers, this role will focus on managing roughly 150 employees across outlet and retail stores through the territory. This role will cover the full generalist spectrum with a particular emphasis on building a retail talent pipeline, recruiting and retaining outstanding talent, labour planning, budget control, Employee Relations, training and development.  The role reports to the HR Director for Europe, based in London.

Main Responsibilities:

  • actively contribute to a dynamic HR team focused on developing a 1st class centralized European HR function
  • partner with Area Managers and Store Managers to support their business objectives for the region, in particular with regards to their recruiting and staff retention efforts and promote the Company as an employer of choice
  • source and recruit for store management positions, and new store openings
  • manage ER matters in compliance with local legislation and HR best practice liaising closely with the local vendor and Company Legal Counsel
  • build a talent management strategy in territory, focusing on performance improvement and career development from territory and across European locations
  • collaborate with the broader European HR team, develop and launch new HR policies and procedures
  • partner with Payroll and monitor the local vendor, so that HR administrative processes run smoothly
  • assist the HR Director with harmonizing HR projects across Europe in line with Company global HR vision
  • analyze and report on HR metrics to identify trends, inform business decisions and seek solutions

Candidate profile:

  • a first class degree and/or tertiary education focused on Human Resources
  • work experience at Business Partner, Officer or Manager level in the international (luxury) retail environment for these territories (predominantly across Italy)
  • experience in attracting, sourcing and recruiting retail candidates across both Outlet and Retail portfolios
  • fluency in English and Italian
  • ability to deal with ambiguity
  • an analytical mind and a commercial focus
  • flexibility to travel across Italy and Switzerland with regular visits to corporate office based in London
  • a hands-on attitude and willingness to work with minimal administrative support in a fast growth company
  • work experience in a US headquartered company and broad European HR experience are a plus.
